Bitcoin Gold (BTG) – fork of Bitcoin which was created in November 12, 2017.
The main reason for the creation of this cryptocurrency was the desire to get BTG mined by using graphics cards (GPU), and not as it happens in Bitcoin, which is now mined only with the help of dedicated ASICs. The goal is that anyone who has a graphics card can mine Bitcoin Gold.
What is more, in Bitcoin, mining difficulty is adjusted every 2016 blocks (about two weeks) to maintain an average interval of 10 minutes between blocks. If the average time between blocks was less than 10 minutes, the difficulty increases; if the average time was longer than 10 minutes, the difficulty is reduced
Bitcoin Gold uses the difficulty adjustment algorithm called DigiShield V3. The idea behind this solution is to check how much time has elapsed since the last block to the median of the set number of previous blocks, and to adjust the difficulty of each block to the 10-minute block interval.
The Bitcoin Gold team used the “post-mine” method to extract 100,000 BTG before allowing the community to dig BTG. These funds are to be used to maintain and develop the BTG ecosystem, and 5% of this pool went to the BTG team members (approximately 833 BTG for each of six people)
